Employee engagement survey questions

Tips for your survey
- Make it anonymous and say so at the start. If people fear being identified, they answer what they think you want to hear.
- Before sending it, tell the team what it is for and what you will do with the results.
- Don’t ask for details that reveal who answered, such as department and tenure together in a small team.
- Share a summary of the results and one or two concrete actions. If nothing happens afterwards, fewer people will answer next time.
- Repeat the same questions once or twice a year to see whether things are getting better.
Frequently asked questions
- How many questions should an employee engagement survey have?
- Between 10 and 15 for a yearly survey. For a more frequent pulse, use 3 to 5 questions, for example the eNPS and one open question.
- What is eNPS?
- It is the 0 to 10 question about how likely you are to recommend the company as a place to work. Subtract the percentage who answer 0 to 6 from the percentage who answer 9 or 10.
- How often should I run it?
- Once or twice a year with the whole team. In between, you can send short surveys every quarter to follow the topics that matter most.
- Can I make the survey anonymous with SurvIQ?
- Yes. Just don’t ask for a name or email. You can share it with a link, on WhatsApp, by email or with a QR code, and see the results in charts in real time.
