How to use your QR code

Paste the full link, starting with https://. The QR code stores the link exactly as written: if it has a typo, the QR code will lead to the wrong place too.

Download PNG for social media, slides or documents, and SVG if it’s going to a print shop: SVG can be enlarged without losing quality.

Before printing many copies, scan it with two different phones to check that it opens the survey.

Tips to get more people to scan it

  • Put a line next to it saying what people get: “Tell us how we did (1 minute)” works better than “Scan here”.
  • Use a dark color on a light background. Light codes on dark backgrounds, or low-contrast ones, fail on many phones.
  • For a poster or a table, print it at least 3 × 3 cm (about 1.2 inches). Bigger if people will scan it from a distance.
  • The survey has to work well on a phone, because almost everyone who scans answers there.

Frequently asked questions

Does the QR code expire?
No. It’s a static QR code: the link is stored inside the image and it works as long as the link works. It doesn’t go through any server of ours.
Can I change the link after printing?
No, because the link is inside the code. If you might switch surveys, use a link that stays the same: in SurvIQ a published survey keeps its link even when you edit the questions.
Is there a watermark or usage limit?
No. Make as many QR codes as you like and use them for anything, commercial use included.
How do I know how many people answered through the QR code?
A static QR code doesn’t count scans. If you build the survey in SurvIQ, you see responses arrive in real time and the QR code is ready when you publish.
